In order to effectively treat your hair loss, it is important to accurately identify the cause of hair loss or thinning.

The following series of blood tests, which may be arranged by your treating physician, will help to identify the possible cause of your hair loss;

  • FBC – Full blood count
  • Se Ferritin
  • TSH – Thyroid Stimulating Hormone
  • BSL – Blood Sugar Level
  • FSH – Follicle Stimulating Hormone
  • E2 – Estradiol
  • ESR
  • Vitamin D

For normal hair health, Se Ferritin levels should be 70 or higher. If your blood tests exhibit a Se Ferritin reading of below 70, supplementation may be required.

In the case that androgenetic alopecia (genetic hair loss) is identified as the cause of hair loss or thinning and your donor hair is suitable, you may be an appropriate candidate for hair transplant surgery.
