IBS Clinic

We are proud to announce the New IBS Clinic here at AACSH, formed by the leading natural and holistic health practitioners in Dubai. The dedicated IBS Clinic team offer a wealth of knowledge and experience in helping patients often suffering in silence with the common complaint of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) with an holistic approach.

Conventional medical treatment for IBS consists of drugs or anti spasmodic medication for abdominal cramps, analgesics for pain, anti-diarrhoea drugs or anti-depressants to relieve anxiety and stress. For many people an alternative more holistic approach is preferred to manage the condition.

The IBS Clinic comprises qualified and specialist Colon Hydrotherapists, a Nutritionist, a Holistic Life Coach and Holistic wellness practitioners to help patients manage and even eliminate certain symptoms or establish the root cause of the often debilitating condition. The specific IBS programme will be individually tailored to each patient under the supervision of qualified practitioners to: help re-educate the digestive tract through proper eating, digestion and hydration to improve bowel tone with a variety of techniques whistsupporting emotional and physical wellbeing. The team can provide the tools and knowledge to help manage IBS effectively.
Symptoms of IBS

IBS is a complex condition with no one presenting cause or cure, there is growing understanding that it can be linked to bowel flora or nerve damage in the gut, food sensitivities or even emotional factors. An infection or a stomach bug can act as a physiological root cause, whilst certain stressful life events can bring about the onset. For some IBS can simply develop in maturity without any other medical indicators.IBS can cause discomfort and distress, for some the condition is totally debilitating.

The primary symptoms of IBS are abdominal pain or discomfort in association with frequent diarrhoea, constipation or a change in bowel habits. There may also be urgency for bowel movements, a feeling of incomplete evacuation, bloating or abdominal distension. People with IBS, more commonly than others, have gastroesophageal reflux, symptoms relating to the genitourinary system, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, headache and backache. Many IBS sufferers also typically suffer with periods of anxiety or depression.
The techniques used in the IBS Clinic:

Colon hydrotherapy by our IBS Specialist Colon Hydrotherapists is effectively used to relax and re shape and tone the bowel. Using a gentle flow of water, the essential rehydrating of the bowel can helpease some of the most common unwanted physiological symptoms of IBS such as constipation, painful and unconformable gas or bloating, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps. The therapist will work with you to help remove identified irritants to and improve your gut mobility. They will advise on how to re-inoculate and help repair the gut function.

Nutritional Therapy a novel approach for IBS treatment-low FODMAP (Fermentable Oligo-, Di- and Mono-saccharides, and Polyols )diet has been now been accepted and recommended as one of the most effective dietary therapies for IBS. Supervised administration of this diet by qualified clinical nutritionist will aim to reduce symptoms of gas, bloating, cramping and/or diarrhoea in those who could be sensitive to the effects of the short-chain carbohydrates found in many common foods.

Holistic Life coachin gwill help the client to identify, change and free themselves from the emotional or lifestyle factors which could be a trigger or underlying cause for the IBS occurring. (This can date all the way back from childhood through to present day)The Holistic Life Coach will then support the client to take responsibility of these issues from a logical perspective by committing to a plan of action, and from an emotional perspective by getting to the root cause of the issue by healing and freeing the individual in becoming fully balanced and in optimal health physically, mentally and emotionally.

Holistic Therapies can be discussed and advised by your practitioner. There are many holistic therapies that are extremely beneficial in helping to calm and relax a ‘stressed’ body and mind whilst also helping to rebalance the whole of the digestive tract. Our specialised therapists can assist you with reflexology, lymphatic drainage massage, abdominal massage and Reiki to name but a few techniques for IBS relief. Stress is a common trigger for IBS and initiating any relaxation therapies has a positive effect on the improvement of stress related conditions.

Blood Testing can be arranged to establish sensitivity to and the ability to digest food. A tailored blood screening highlights many strains on the body, whilst showing any nutritional or enzyme deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, parasites or fungal overgrowths which may be contributing to symptoms.

Gastroenterology where required the team can refer to a professional Gastroenterologist any explorative measures such as Gastroscopy, Endoscopy or Colonoscopy or for any required medical guidance.
