Thigh Lift

A thigh lift is indicated if there is a lot of loose skin on the inner thigh region. Commonly seen after massive weight loss, this excess of skin forms loose folds, giving rise to friction between thighs, difficulty in walking, repeated rashes and many other functional problems in addition to the bad cosmetic appearance.
A vertical scar type of thigh lift is a very effective operation for this condition. In this, the excess skin is marked out as a vertical long ellipse and removed. The skin edges are then pulled together and closed. This tightens the circumference of the thigh but also results in a long single line scar on the inner side. Most patients like to avoid the long scar and ask for a hidden scar in the panty line. Unfortunately, these horizontal scar thigh-lifts do not correct the problem and are now no longer recommended.

    Recovery
A suitable garment is worn for 3 weeks at least. Due to the location of the incision, post-operative recovery is slower although one can walk the next day. Pain is controlled by oral medicines. Dressings may be discontinued at 7-10 days and garments after 3-4 weeks.
Potential complications: bleeding, collection of serum, opening up of a part of the incision and infection are the more likely complications; total incidence is from 5-10%.
